Time Honors The Capital Gazette With 2018 “Persons Of The Year”
The staff of the Capital Gazette newspaper has been named one of Time Magazine’s 2018 “Persons of the Year.” For this year’s theme of “Guardians and the War on Truth,” Time has chosen to highlight the Capital Gazette team alongside four other journalists “who have paid a terrible price to seize the challenge of this moment,” as stated by the magazine’s Editor-In-Chief, Edward Felsenthal.
After the horrific events in Annapolis, MD on June 28, 2018, Capital Gazette reporter Chase Cook famously declared “I can tell you this: We are putting out a damn paper tomorrow." Holding true to their word, these brave defenders of the free press published a full paper the following day, and have continued their work undeterred since.
Now you can support the staff of the Capital Gazette, The Baltimore Sun, and other newspapers or journalists nationwide with our Free Speech Collection! Proudly wear the Paper Tomorrow T-Shirt
